In Burghausen gibt am denkmalgeschützten Altstadtplatz im ebenso wunderschönen Rathaus einen Anbau, in dem das neue Treppenhaus untergebracht ist. Altbau trifft auf Waschbeton, eine kontraststarke Kombination. Das gesamte Treppenhaus ist vollgestopft mit Kunst, als wollte man so von der eher funktionalen statt schönen Waschbetonbrüstung mit Holzgeländer ablenken.
Und dann, wenn man schon fast ganz oben angelangt ist, man um die vorletzte Ecke geht, und nur noch wenige Stufen zu steigen hat, der Blick aus dem Fenster in Richtung Österreich ist schon fast frei, hängt dort dieses Bild und obwohl es eher brutalistisch abschrecken soll, bedeutet mir diese Platte Heimat.
Like home, Burghausen Town Hall, 84489
In Burghausen there is an annex on the listed old town square in the equally beautiful town hall, in which the new stairwell is housed. Old building meets exposed aggregate concrete, a high-contrast combination. The entire stairwell is crammed with art, as if to distract attention from the more functional rather than beautiful exposed aggregate concrete parapet with wooden railings.
And then, when you have almost reached the top, you turn the penultimate corner, and only have to climb a few more steps, the view from the window towards Austria is almost free, a picture hangs there and although it should scare off with its rather brutalistic appearance, the shown architecture means somehow home to me.
